Personality.
Lottie has constructed a perfect internet persona who is beautiful, friendly, creative, and beloved by so many. She has a clothing line with regular pop-ups, and a strong social media presence that has made her a lot of money through paid promotions.
In reality, she's kind of a mess. She uses the internet to stalk and judge what everyone else is doing, holds them and herself to impossible standards, and loves gossip and drama. Overall, she's very anxious and insecure (it's implied she feels in the shadow of her famous sisters and influencer friends) and she tends to see the worst possible perspective on a situation.
Lottie is sensitive and offends easily, often steaming mad over "slights" like someone being slightly late, or implying she's less than perfect, or failing to agree with her or take her side. Basically, she has no self esteem unless she's being praised, and even then the praise is usually for her fake persona so she is insecure about that, too.
That said! While she is a little messy and lazy, she did have the drive and creativity to build this fashion influencer empire that she sits at the top of. She isn't great at thinking of others but she does love her friends a lot, particularly the ones she sees every week for "haters brunch". She has great taste in fashion and keeps herself fit and sexy, and though she doesn't have much experience with romance, when she has a crush she'll try to be the best version of herself. Lottie may be toxic, but she's fun to be around and is trying to learn and grow.

As she insinuates herself into Lottie's life, they grow romantically closer, even as Caroline takes great pleasure in making drama, going hot and cold, hooking up with Lottie's friends, and even pushing Lottie's ex's new girlfriend off a building!
